Manila: About 600 farmers from Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, received their fuel subsidy cards during a one-day distribution event held on Tuesday under the facilitation of the Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region (DA-13).

According to Philippines News Agency, the DA-13 stated that a total of PHP1.8 million in fuel subsidy was released, with each beneficiary receiving PHP3,000 worth of subsidy cards. The fuel subsidy is intended to be used for procuring fuel for farm machinery and equipment, particularly during the planting season.

Maricel Gelay, a rice farmer from the area, was among the recipients of the subsidy cards. She expressed gratitude to the government for the support. Gelay highlighted that the PHP3,000 fuel subsidy is sufficient to operate their machinery and equipment in preparation for the planting season. She emphasized the importance of proper preparations for planting to boost productivity, secure a good harvest, and increase income.

The DA-13 further announced that additional fuel subsidy releases are scheduled this week in Butuan City and the towns of Buenavista and Nasipit in Agusan del Norte.
