Manila: The Department of Justice (DOJ) has called on prosecutors to steadfastly uphold the rule of law, emphasizing their crucial roles in furthering the Marcos administration’s advocacy and vision for a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines).
According to Philippines News Agency, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla delivered this message to the newly elected officers and board members of the Prosecutors League of the Philippines (PLP) for the term 2025 to 2027. Remulla urged the PLP members to “champion the rule of law with resolve and integrity,” and to set high standards by consistently delivering justice promptly.
PLP President and Navotas City Chief Prosecutor Armando Cavalida assured that the league remains committed to its vision and will continue to develop policies benefiting the National Prosecution Service.
Undersecretary Fredderick Vida revealed plans to hire approximately 150 prosecution lawyers by July to support the DOJ’s zero-backlog policy on cases. Additionally, Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes Andres advised regional prosecutors to coordinate with Department and Environment and Natural Resources regional executive directors to enhance environmental protection efforts.
