Hanoi: Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has signed Decision No. 1482/QD-TTg, announcing new appointments for the Vietnam – Laos Cooperation Committee. This committee is a significant part of the Intergovernmental Committee for Bilateral Cooperation between the two nations.
According to Lao News Agency, the decision designates Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang as the Chairman of the committee, with Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong assuming the role of Vice Chairman. The Secretariat of the committee will be staffed by officials at the department level within the Ministry of Finance, ensuring efficient administrative support.
The committee’s membership extends to deputy minister-level leaders or senior officials from various ministries, including the Government Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Construction, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. This diverse composition is aimed at fostering comprehensive bilateral cooperation.
Additional members may be appointed by the committee chairperson based on the agenda of each Intergovernmental Committee meeting. The Ministry of Finance will serve as the standing body of the committee, highlighting its central role in facilitating Vietnam – Laos cooperation.
