Paranaque: Three top-seeded players emerged victorious in their respective categories at the Dr. Pablo Olivarez Sr. National Juniors Tennis Championships, held at the Olivarez Sports Center in Para±aque.
According to Philippines News Agency, Cristiano Matteo Calingasan, a Grade 8 student at Catholic Filipino Academy-Quezon City, secured the boys’ 14-under title by defeating Yuan Andrei Torrente with a score of 6-3, 6-3. In addition to his victory, Calingasan was honored as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
In the boys’ 12-under finals, Tyronne Grey Caro, the top seed, triumphed over second seed Yuan Andrei Torrente, echoing the scoreline of 6-3, 6-3. Meanwhile, the boys’ 18-under crown was claimed by third seed Jonathan Higa, who won against fifth seed Gavin Kraut with a decisive 6-2, 6-2 victory.
The boys’ 16-under division saw top seed Julio Y±igo Naredo overpower second seed Alexandre Coyiuto, finishing the match with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win.
The tournament will continue with the girls’ division matches, scheduled to take place from August 14 to 18.
