Manila: The southwest monsoon, locally known as ‘habagat’, continues to influence weather conditions across the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon, leading to isolated rain showers, as reported by the weather bureau.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released a 4 a.m. bulletin indicating that the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Additionally, the easterlies are predicted to cause similar weather patterns over Caraga and the Davao Region.
Further forecasts suggest that Metro Manila and other regions across the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms resulting from localized thunderstorms. PAGASA has issued warnings about potential flash floods or landslides in areas affected by severe thunderstorms.
The coastal waters are anticipated to be moderate in the western section of Northern Luzon, with conditions ranging from slight to moderate in the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, as well as the rest of the country. The sun rose at 5:44 a.m. and is expected to set at 6:06 p.m.
In related weather developments, Tropical Storm Tapah, previously known as Lannie, was located about 640 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte as of 3 a.m. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour.
