Vientiane: President Thongloun Sisoulith has been reelected as Secretary General of the 12th Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. The reelection took place on January 8, marking a significant moment in the political landscape of Laos.
According to Lao News Agency, the 12th Central Committee consists of 73 members, including notable figures such as President Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihanh, and Prime Minister Sonesay Siphandone. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 3-day 12th National Congress of the Party, which also saw the introduction of the new politburo for the Central Committee.
The newly announced 13-member politburo includes prominent names like Thongloun Sisoulith, Xaysomphone Phomvihane, and Sonexay Siphandone, along with other key members such as Khamphan Phommathat, Kikeo Khaikhamphithoune, and Vilay Lakhamfong. The comprehensive list also features Sisay Leudethmounsone, Saleumxay Kommasith, Khamphan Pheuiyavong, Thongsalith Mangnormek, Phet Phomphiphack, Khamlieng Outhakaysone, and Vansay Phongsavanh.
