Luang Prabang Seminar Promotes Scholarships for Cultural and Tourism Officials

Luang prabang: A seminar on educational advancement scholarships for officials in the cultural and tourism sectors was held on Feb 24, 2026, at Souphattra Hotel under the Luang Prabang Urban Environment Improvement Project. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Sudaphone Khomthavong, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism, and attended by project management representatives and relevant stakeholders.

According to Lao News Agency, the seminar highlighted opportunities for officials to enhance professional capacity through scholarships supported by the project. The aim is to strengthen tourism management, improve sector expertise, and contribute to provincial socio-economic development.

Luang Prabang is implementing the project with financial support from the Asian Development Bank. The focus is on promoting sustainable urban development, improving tourism services, and expanding employment opportunities, particularly for women.

Participants received detailed guidance on scholarship categories, eligibility requirements, and application procedures for continuing education and degree programmes at domestic and international institutions. The session concluded with a discussion to clarify application processes and requirements.
