Vientiane: A two-day congress chaired by Khamphan Pheuyavong, Member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Head of the Commission for Information and Education of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, concluded successfully. The event was attended by prominent figures such as Vilay Lakhamfong, along with Party Committee members, leadership officials, and full delegates.
According to Lao News Agency, the congress was marked by a lively atmosphere with a high sense of responsibility as delegates thoroughly studied and commented on the Political Report and the Five-Year Development Plan for Information and Education Work (2026-2030). These documents will guide the Commission's work over the next five years. The Congress officially adopted aboth the Political Report and the Development Plan.
Khamphan Pheuyavong emphasized that the successful conclusion of the Congress is an initial step in defining future directions and target missions for information and education activities. He urged all relevant sectors to translate the Congress's resolutions and spirit into concrete actions to enhance the effectiveness of the information and education work entrusted by the Party.
Boungpheng Chanthadala, Chief of the Office of the Commission for Information and Education, noted that the Congress discussed and approved the Political Report of the 5th-term Party Committee, which reviewed the achievements of the past five years. The directions, priority missions, and the 2026-2030 Development Plan, comprising 9 programs and 42 projects, were also approved.
Delegates adopted the Inspection Report on the leadership performance of the 5th-term Party Committee, recognizing its efforts in achieving significant positive outcomes. Discussions also focused on improving the organizational structure of the Commission, strengthening theoretical research, enhancing information and education services, and promoting media work. There was broad unity and consensus on the Political Report, strategic directions, target missions, and overall outcomes of the Congress.
The Congress exercised democratic centralism to elect the new-term Party Executive Committee. Out of 20 candidates, 17 members, including 1 woman, were elected to the 6th-term Party Executive Committee of the Commission for Information and Education.
In the inaugural session, Khamphan Pheuyavong was unanimously elected as Secretary of the Party Executive Committee, Vansy Khuamoua as Deputy Secretary, Xakhon Phommalat as Chair of the Inspection Committee, and Savang Dalasenh, Laxay Kongkeomanivong, Chansouk Phimmavan, and Kongboune Soulivong as Vice Chairs of the Party Inspection Committee.
