Vang vieng: Ground has been broken for the USD 216 million Vang Vieng Central Plaza project, a major development set to transform the area. Developed by China Engineering Construction Laos Co., Ltd., the project will cover 210,000 square meters and feature a comprehensive commercial complex. This complex will integrate tourism, dining, culture, and entertainment under the concept of 'Vang Vieng - The City That Never Sleeps.'
According to Lao News Agency, the project is expected to create between 4,000 and 5,000 jobs, which will significantly boost tourism and improve infrastructure. It is also anticipated to generate substantial revenue for both local and national development. Provincial authorities have expressed confidence in the project's potential to contribute positively to the socio-economic growth of Vang Vieng and Vientiane Province.
The groundbreaking ceremony also featured a tree-planting activity, held in observance of National Tree Planting Day 2026.
