Prime Minister Encourages Japanese Firms to Boost Investment in Laos

Tokyo: Prime Minister invited greater Japanese investment in Laos during a high-profile meeting with government officials and business leaders on the sidelines of the 31st International Conference on the Future of Asia. He stressed the significance of enhancing trade and investment ties between the two nations, aiming to forge stronger partnerships between Lao and Japanese enterprises.

According to Lao News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted the existing frameworks, such as the bilateral investment agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as reliable foundations for fostering business cooperation and boosting investor confidence. He commended Japanese firms for maintaining high standards in technology, environmental responsibility, and human resource development.

The Prime Minister extended an invitation to Japanese companies seeking overseas opportunities to consider Laos as a strategic investment destination. He particularly emphasized sectors that align with Laos' green and sustainable development goals and regional supply chains.

Officials at the meeting pointed out the steady growth of Japanese investment in various sectors in Laos, including agriculture, manufacturing, services, and special economic zones.
