Vientiane: The seminar was chaired by Khamphan Pheuyavong, Member of the Politburo and Head of the Commission for Information and Education, and brought together representatives from central Party bodies, ministries, and organizations involved in media affairs. Speaking at the opening session, Khamphan said the seminar aims to review and evaluate media development over recent years while outlining strategic directions for the sector through 2030. Participants are also examining a draft Politburo resolution intended to replace Resolution No. 36, issued in 1993, on strengthening Party leadership and State management of the media.According to Lao News Agency, Khamphan noted that after more than three decades, the existing resolution requires updating to reflect changes in the country's socio-economic development, technological progress, and the evolving media landscape. The seminar is also reviewing draft documents that will be presented at the First National Media Conference, which is expected to become a lan dmark event for Laos' media sector by setting long-term policies and development priorities for the years ahead.Khamphan called on participants to actively contribute ideas and recommendations to ensure the draft documents are comprehensive, practical, and responsive to current challenges and future development needs.
