The Mekong Delta is forecasted to see the levels of floodwaters this year higher as compared to the last year due to high tides and upstream floods. In the upstream province of Dong Thap, where the first floodwaters enter the delta from Cambodia, the water levels in Sa Dec city and Lap Vo, Lai Vung, Chau Thanh districts have risen rapidly, about 0.2m higher than the annual average. According to the provincial Hydro-meteorological Station, the flood peak in 2024 in Dong Thap province is expected to be about 0.1-0.4m higher than that in 2023. In particular, the peak is forecasted to be about 0.4m higher in the upstream area; 0.3m higher in Thap Muoi area.Source: Vietnam News Agency
