Vientiane: A prayer and candle-lighting ceremony was held on November 1 at Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane to pray for communities affected by recent storms and floods in Vietnam’s northern and central provinces.
According to Lao News Agency, heavy rains, landslides, and successive storms have recently impacted many parts of Vietnam, leading to significant loss of life and property. The natural disasters have caused numerous homes to be swept away, roads to be cut off, and thousands of residents to evacuate, confronting them with escalating challenges.
At the ceremony, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers chanted sutras and lit lotus-shaped candles, offering prayers for peace and conveying deep sympathy for the losses endured by people in Vietnam.
The event was not only a significant religious occasion but also demonstrated the Vietnamese community in Laos’ strong sense of solidarity and connection with their homeland.
