China-Mongolia Border Port Achieves 20,000 China-Europe Freight Train Milestone

Erenhot: Erenhot, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has achieved a milestone with the handling of 20,000 China-Europe freight trains since the commencement of its service in 2013, as announced by the China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd.

According to Lao News Agency, Erenhot port, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has experienced a significant surge in train numbers, destinations, frequency, and the variety of goods transported. This growth is attributed to China’s intensified efforts in fostering international economic and trade cooperation.

The port hit the 10,000th entry and exit milestone in 2022, and remarkably, the subsequent 10,000 freight trips were completed in approximately three years. Initially, the shipments mainly included metal, chemicals, and apparel products. However, the trains now transport high-value-added goods such as new-energy vehicles, electronics, and household appliances.

Serving as a crucial entry-exit point for the central corridor of the China-Europe railway service, Erenhot port now facilitates 73 routes that connect over 60 cities across 24 Chinese provincial-level regions to more than 70 stations in over 10 countries, including Germany and Poland.
