Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his congratulations to Thongloun Sisoulith on his re-election as president of Laos. In his message, President Xi emphasized the importance of the longstanding friendly relationship between China and Laos, describing them as socialist neighbors with a shared future. He highlighted the mutual support and assistance that have been consistent features of their relationship, underscoring their deep friendship as "comrades plus brothers."

According to Lao News Agency, President Xi noted the significance of the upcoming 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, which will coincide with the Year of China-Laos Friendship in 2026. He mentioned that both countries plan to organize a series of celebratory events, aimed at strengthening the bond between the Chinese and Lao peoples.

President Xi also remarked on the alignment of strategic development plans between China and Laos, as both countries embark on significant five-year plans. With China beginning its 15th Five-Year Plan and Laos its 10th socio-economic development plan, Xi sees an opportunity for enhanced cooperation and development between the two nations.

Furthermore, President Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate closely with President Thongloun, who also serves as the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. He aims to develop a new strategic blueprint for cooperation and elevate the China-Laos community with a shared future, contributing to regional peace and development.

In a related move, Chinese Premier Li Qiang sent a congratulatory message to Sonexay Siphandone on his re-election as the prime minister of Laos. Premier Li expressed his willingness to foster exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' governmental departments and localities, with the goal of achieving greater accomplishments in their shared future.
