Comprehensive Preparedness Discussed for the 12th National Games

Vientiane: The National Sports Technical Committee convened a meeting on November 3, 2025, in Vientiane Capital to review and discuss the overall preparedness for the 12th National Games, which will be held from November 15-25, 2025. The meeting aimed to consolidate inputs from each sub-committee to ensure the Games’ smooth organization and ultimate success.

According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Kingmano Phommahaxay, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports and supervisor of the Technical and Competition Management Committee, stated that the meeting was convened to deliberate and reach consensus on various operational matters, particularly those involving challenges and difficulties faced by the organizing bodies. He emphasized that each sub-committee must carry out its responsibilities with diligence and accountability, ensuring a systematic workflow and smooth coordination across all areas. He also encouraged all participants to exchange views openly to foster unity and ensure the successful implementation of p
lans according to the established objectives.

During the session, Mr. Sichan Chittapanya, Head of the Department of High-Performance Sports and Chairman of the Technical and Competition Management Committee, presented an update on the committee’s readiness. Key achievements include the completion of the results reporting system for 33 sports and 4 sub-sports, enabling real-time reporting within 30 minutes after each competition. Monitoring and inspection of all sports venues have been conducted, which are now reported to be 100% ready.

Ongoing coordination with suppliers is in place to bring in and inspect sports equipment before distribution and installation at the venues in accordance with the planned timeline. Approval has been granted for competition rules for 33 sports and 1 demonstration sport, along with the final approval of 432 competition events comprising 224 men’s, 182 women’s, and 26 mixed events. A total of 3,747 medals will be awarded during the Games, and competition schedules and service ve
nues have been approved. Athlete participation in each event meets the required minimum of four teams or provinces per event.

Contingency plans have been developed to address potential issues during the 33 sports competitions. The meeting reaffirmed the collective determination of all committees to ensure that the 12th National Games in Vientiane Capital are held successfully, promoting unity, sportsmanship, and national pride.
