DepEd Bicol Activates Task Force to Support Electoral Boards

Legazpi City: The Department of Education in Bicol (DepEd-5) has taken proactive steps by activating its Regional and Division Election Task Force (ETF) to offer support to teachers and non-teaching staff, particularly those serving as electoral board members in polling centers.

According to Philippines News Agency, DepEd Bicol Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad issued a memorandum indicating that all regional and school division offices have set up and activated their respective ETFs. These task forces are intended to function as communication and response hubs for any election-related concerns involving teaching and non-teaching personnel. The task forces will remain operational before, during, and after the election period.

Sadsad emphasized the importance of these task forces, stating, “These task forces are put in place to ensure that our personnel are supported, guided, and protected as they fulfill their duties during the elections.” He also announced the establishment of a regional ETF command center, operational until May 13 at 5 p.m., located at the office of the regional director. The center will be staffed around the clock throughout the election period to monitor and respond to concerns, offering real-time legal assistance when required.

All 13 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) across the region have been activated to address local-level issues and provide immediate support to election-deployed personnel. Training sessions have been conducted for ETF members to acquaint them with established protocols and proper reporting procedures.

Sadsad reiterated that forming the ETF is part of the office’s commitment to ensuring the safety, well-being, and effective support of all personnel participating in national and local elections.
