Vientiane: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane recently welcomed ASEAN Ambassadors to the Lao PDR, who gathered to congratulate him on his recent appointment.
According to Lao News Agency, the diplomatic corps was led by Edi Irwan bin Mahmud, Ambassador of Malaysia and the current coordinator of the ASEAN Consultative Meeting in Vientiane. The ambassadors expressed their sincere congratulations and reiterated their commitment to strengthening ties with Laos.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and cooperation from ASEAN member states. He emphasized the significance of their partnership in fostering regional unity and collaboration. Furthermore, he praised the active involvement of ASEAN embassies through the ASEAN Consultative Meeting framework. This engagement, he noted, plays a crucial role in promoting awareness of ASEAN initiatives and enhancing both multilateral cooperation and bilateral relations between Laos and its fellow member states.
