A farmer and his young son died in a highway accident in Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao del Sur on Monday afternoon, police said.Lt. Salonga Langguyuan, municipal police chief of Datu Anggal Midtimbang, identified the fatalities as Mustapha Dalandan, 25, and his six-year-old son, whose identity was withheld.'Injured and in critical condition at a hospital were Dalandan's wife, Baimen, and their two other two children, aged eight and six years old,' Langguyuan said in a radio interview on Tuesday.The victims were on board a tricycle driven by Dalandan when they were hit by a commuter van as he tried to make a U-turn along the national highway at 5 p.m. Monday.The children were thrown off the tricycle and sustained serious injuries, Langguyuan said.The van driver, identified as Khadafie Guiamaludin of this city, is currently jailed at the Datu Anggal Midtimbang municipal police detention facility.Police are preparing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and injuries against the van driver.
