Phonhong District: HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, along with Lao and Thai officials, including Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Vientiane Province Governor Khamphan Sitthidampha, and the Thai Ambassador to Laos, has inaugurated a newly constructed conference room at the Security Cultural School.
According to Lao News Agency, Lt. Gen. Kongthong Phongvichit, Deputy Minister of Public Security, discussed the school’s development since its inception. The institution, which has produced 38 high school graduates, currently enrolls 618 students, including 264 females, across grades 6 and 7. The school emphasizes practical learning, with students involved in agricultural projects such as fish, poultry, livestock, and vegetable farming to support the school kitchen. Health initiatives, including medical checkups and vaccinations, further promote student welfare.
Since 1992, HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s project has supported essential infrastructure developments, which include four dormitories, a learning building, and a student kitchen. Two computer labs equipped with internet access and experimental tools have also been established. Recent enhancements include a teacher’s office, a girls’ dormitory, modern teaching tools, and repairs to the drinking water facility. Additionally, eight scholarships have been provided for Lao students to study IT and forensic science in Thailand from 2025 to 2028.
Future plans for the school involve expanding infrastructure, upgrading roads connecting Route 13 to the school, strengthening campus walls, and improving teacher training, particularly in mathematics, languages, and arts, to enhance educational quality.
Lt. Gen. Kongthong stated, ‘This school embodies the enduring partnership between Laos and Thailand,’ underscoring its significance in developing skilled graduates and promoting cross-border collaboration. The event underscored the Princess’s long-standing commitment to Lao education and bilateral relations, reaffirming the school’s mission to integrate academic excellence with practical, sustainable skills.
