Indonesia: Indonesia's Nusantara Capital Authority and state energy firm Pertamina have agreed to cooperate in building a clean energy ecosystem in the new capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan. Nusantara Capital Authority head Basuki Hadimuljono stated that the partnership will lay the foundation for realising a clean energy ecosystem in Nusantara.
According to Lao News Agency, Hadimuljono emphasized the involvement of strategic state-owned companies such as Pertamina, which will strengthen the vision of developing Nusantara into a 'forest city' with low carbon emissions. This vision will be achieved through close collaboration between the government and the business community.
Under the agreement, Pertamina's subsidiaries will play active roles in the capital's development. Pertamina New and Renewable Energy will focus on renewable power, PT Patra Jasa will engage in real estate development, and the Pertamina Fund and Pertamina University will support sustainable development and education projects.
Agung Wicaksono, Pertamina's Director of Transformation and Sustainable Development, mentioned that the company will adopt an integrated approach to support Nusantara's growth. A key element of this approach will be investments in nature-based solutions to preserve ecosystems.
Pertamina also plans to establish the 'Nusantara Sustainability Centre' in the new capital, which will serve as a research hub aimed at fostering high-quality human resources grounded in environmental, social, and governance principles.
In addition to energy and environmental cooperation, the Nusantara authority highlighted that the partnership with Pertamina will also aim to enhance human resource capacity through education projects and is committed to accelerating investment processes through adaptive and flexible mechanisms.
