Lao and Cambodian Prime Ministers Hold Talks to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

Phnom penh: The meeting took place during Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone's visit to Cambodia, accompanied by Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao PDR, who paid a state visit to the neighboring country from February 6-7. The Lao Prime Minister also attended several high-level meetings involving Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

According to Lao News Agency, both Prime Ministers reaffirmed the long-standing traditional friendship and good-neighborly relations between Laos and Cambodia and agreed to further strengthen their comprehensive, long-term strategic partnership.

The two sides reviewed cooperation in key areas, including politics, security, economy, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, energy, infrastructure connectivity, and border affairs, and agreed to continue exchanges of delegations and effective implementation of existing agreements.

They also discussed preparations for the upcoming state visit to the Lao PDR by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni in June 2026, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone thanked the Cambodian side for the warm reception and invited Prime Minister Hun Manet to pay an official visit to Laos in 2027. Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to further strengthening cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
