Lao Newspaper Highlights President Ho Chi Minh’s Views on Combative Nature of Revolutionary Press

Vientiane: On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – 2025), Pasaxon, the official organ of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, published an editorial underscoring late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh’s fundamental views on the combative nature of the revolutionary press. The article highlighted Ho Chi Minh’s consistent regard for the revolutionary press as an essential part of the Vietnamese Party’s and nation’s revolutionary struggle.

According to Lao News Agency, President Ho Chi Minh addressed the combative spirit of the revolutionary press during the 2nd Congress of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) in April 1959. He emphasized that all those involved in the press, including writers, printers, editors, and distributors, must maintain a strong political and ideological stance, remain self-reliant, and adhere to a political line aligned with their daily responsibilities.

The editorial also recalled Ho Chi Minh’s speech at the 3rd VJA Congress on September 8, 1962, where he stated that journalists are revolutionary soldiers, using pens and papers as their weapons. Further, in a message to the Afro-Asian Journalists’ Association on April 24, 1965, he articulated that newspaper articles are a form of revolutionary appeal, aimed at uniting and mobilizing the masses in struggle.

The editorial concluded by emphasizing Ho Chi Minh’s belief that a state of the people is reflected through sound and well-formulated Party and Government policies, which, once implemented, can swiftly inspire societal creativity.
