Vientiane: Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Acting Head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, welcomed Mr. Gerardo Pe±alver Portal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, and his delegation during their visit to the Lao PDR and other Asian countries on July 25, 2025.
According to Lao News Agency, the meeting served as a platform to reinforce the traditional bonds of friendship and cooperation between Laos and Cuba. Mr. Bounleua expressed gratitude for Cuba’s longstanding support during Laos’s national liberation efforts and its continued assistance in national defense and development.
Mr. Bounleua also highlighted Cuba’s achievements in national defense, construction, and socio-economic development, recognizing the country’s dedication to maintaining the legacy of the Cuban Revolution. He provided insights into Laos’s socio-economic progress and the near completion of the 11th Party Congress resolutions.
Deputy Minister Gerardo Pe±alver Portal conveyed appreciation for the hospitality extended by Laos and shared the outcomes of discussions with the Lao Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He praised the leadership of the LPRP in advancing living standards and enhancing Laos’s international profile.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the cooperative ties between Laos and Cuba and emphasized the importance of reviewing and advancing previous agreements. They identified potential areas for future collaboration in politics, education, agriculture, and health, and pledged to maintain mutual support in bilateral and multilateral contexts.
