Laos and Australia Discuss Strengthening Media Cooperation

Laos: On May 6, Khamphanh Pheuyyavong, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Head of the Commission for Information and Education of the Central Committee (CIECC), received Megan Jones at the CIECC reception hall to discuss bilateral cooperation between the Lao PDR and Australia. During the meeting, Mr. Khamphanh warmly welcomed the Australian Ambassador, who congratulated him on his recent appointment to the Political Bureau of the Central Committee.

According to Lao News Agency, both sides reviewed the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Laos and Australia, highlighting the positive development of bilateral relations over the years. The discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation in the media sector to ensure continued growth and productive collaboration between the two countries.

Mr. Khamphanh briefed the Ambassador on the updated roles and responsibilities of the CIECC following its recent organizational restructuring. The two sides also exchanged views on future directions to further enhance bilateral cooperation between Laos and Australia. Ambassador Megan Jones expressed her sincere congratulations to Mr. Khamphanh on his new position and thanked the Lao government for its continued cooperation and support, particularly in promoting media-related collaboration between the two nations.
