Vientiane: Leaders of Lao PDR and China have jointly designated 2026 as the Laos-China Friendship Year to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In preparation for this milestone, the Vang Vieng Ethnic Minority Boarding School in Vientiane Province is organizing a series of cultural and educational activities to strengthen mutual understanding among students.
According to Lao News Agency, Toulyyang Xaiwa, coordinator of the school's Confucius Classroom, announced that the programme will include a Chinese film week, Chinese calligraphy competitions, science quizzes conducted in Chinese, singing contests, and traditional Lao-Chinese dance performances.
The school has long promoted cross-cultural learning through hands-on activities. Students participate in culinary workshops featuring traditional Chinese dishes such as steamed buns, practice Tai Chi for health and physical fitness, and engage in various educational exchanges designed to deepen cultural appreciation and friendship between the two nations.
