Manila North Cemetery to Welcome ‘Undas’ Visitors with Specific Guidelines

Manila: The Manila North Cemetery is gearing up to open its gates to visitors for ‘Undas,’ the annual commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, from October 29 to November 2. In anticipation of this significant event, the city government of Manila has issued a reminder to the public regarding the rules that must be observed during the visit.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Manila Public Information Office has announced via social media that activities such as cleaning, repairs, and painting within the 54-hectare cemetery are only permitted until October 27. The cemetery will be accessible to the public between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. from October 29 through November 2.

Burials are allowed to take place up until October 28, with regular services set to resume on November 3. Visitors are advised to adhere to the list of prohibited items during the ‘Undas’ commemoration, which includes guns, sharp objects like knives and cutters, intoxicating beverages, loud musical instruments and sound systems, as well as flammable items such as alcohol and thinner. Additionally, pets, including dogs and cats, are not permitted within the cemetery grounds.

The city government emphasizes the importance of respect, discipline, and concern for others, encouraging a meaningful collective commemoration for all attendees.
