President Thongloun Holds Talks with Kim Jong Un

Pyongyang: General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR held talks with Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on October 7. President Thongloun Sisoulith was on a congratulatory visit to the DPRK on October 7-8 on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK.

According to Lao News Agency, the DPRK’s supreme leader warmly welcomed the visit of his Lao counterpart to Pyongyang and said that his visit is an expression of the full support and encouragement of the Lao party, government, and people for the cause of the Korean Party and people. He expressed the Korean Party, government, and people’s wishes for the Lao party and people to achieve greater successes in their endeavors.

Thongloun Sisoulith conveyed the best wishes and comradely greetings of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, government, and people to the WPK, the DPRK government, and people on the occasion of its 80th founding anniversary. He emphasized that Laos is a close friend of the fraternal Korean people and reiterated the consistent stand of the state leadership body of Laos to continue developing the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties and the two countries.

The talks introduced the experience gained by the two parties and the two countries in building the party and the state and discussed issues arising in boosting mutual cooperation between the DPRK and the Lao PDR. The talks expressed expectation and conviction that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties and the two countries would grow stronger in line with the aspirations and desires of the two peoples.

The talks proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere. In the evening, Kim Jong Un hosted a reception to welcome Thongloun Sisoulith’s visit to Pyongyang. During the reception, both leaders made speeches, with Kim Jong Un wishing Thongloun Sisoulith good health and great success in his important activities for leading the party and the state, and exchanged farewells.
