Prime Minister Siphandone Meets Vietnamese Defence Minister for Strategic Talks

Vientiane: Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone recently welcomed General Phan Van Giang, the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, during his official visit to Laos. The visit was part of the Trilateral Meeting of Defence Ministers involving Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, which took place from October 14-15, 2025, alongside a joint disaster relief exercise.

According to Lao News Agency, Prime Minister Siphandone expressed his gratitude to General Giang for participating in the trilateral events. He highlighted the significance of these interactions in reinforcing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations. The collaboration aims to enhance stability, peace, and development in both countries.

General Phan Van Giang, in response, thanked Prime Minister Siphandone for the hospitality. He shared insights on the visit’s objectives and achievements, reiterating Vietnam’s dedication to strengthening defence ties with Laos. The ongoing cooperation between the two defence ministries is seen as a key factor in fostering regional security and mutual support.
