Dien bien: A memorial and burial ceremony was held at Tong Khao Martyrs' Cemetery in Thanh Nua commune, located in the northern province of Dien Bien, for the remains of 10 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who lost their lives in Laos during wartime.
According to Lao News Agency, the remains were discovered by a team from the Military Region 2's Political Department, with significant assistance from Party committees, authorities, and local residents in the northern provinces of Laos. The remains were transported from Oudomxay province and entered Vietnam through the Tay Trang International Border Gate, eventually arriving in Dien Bien province.
Out of the 10 sets of remains, only two were successfully identified and returned to their respective families in Phu Tho province and Hanoi. During the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Minh Phu, highlighted the substantial contribution of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Laos, which played a crucial role in strengthening the special friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
