Luang prabang: Set against the serene, ancient backdrop of this UNESCO World Heritage site, Rosewood Luang Prabang is preparing for a festive celebration that truly ignites the spirit of discovery and togetherness.
According to Lao News Agency, the highlights of the programme include captivating cultural immersions such as "Storytelling with Garavek," scheduled for December 24 and 31, 2025. As dusk settles from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., The Lawn at The Great House transforms into an open-air theatre. Renowned Garavek storytellers, accompanied by the melodies of the traditional khene, will transport guests through the folklores of the region, offering a rare glimpse into Laos' rich oral traditions.
Additionally, the New Year will begin with a traditional Lao Baci Ceremony on January 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at The Lawn at The Great House. This ceremony, deeply rooted in local belief, is an expression of friendship and an offering of blessings for peace, prosperity, and harmony in the New Year, connecting guests to the heart of Lao spiritual customs.
Throughout December, Rosewood Luang Prabang's kitchen will offer a series of gastronomic journeys celebrating the season's bounty. Guests can indulge in experiences like the "Melted Indulgence" cheese fondue dinners, available from December 1-31, and "Truffle Season at The Great House," featuring black truffles in various dishes.
A culinary collaboration will take place from December 24-31, 2025, with Chef Steve Lancaster, formerly of the Michelin-starred restaurant Poise in Singapore. Known for his experience in world-renowned kitchens like The Fat Duck and Oaxen Krog, Chef Lancaster will shape the holiday's key culinary moments. His residency will include an enchanting five-course dinner on Christmas Eve and a six-course gala on New Year's Eve, both complemented by live music and crowned with lavish dessert and cheese buffets.
The festive programme also features a "Festive Afternoon Tea," available from December 1-31, offering holiday-inspired savories, exquisite pastries, and delightful sweets paired with fine teas, enjoyed at various locations within the resort.
