Russia and Niger to Collaborate on Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy

Moscow: The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM and the Nigerien Energy Ministry have officially signed a memorandum to collaborate on the peaceful use of atomic energy. The announcement was made by Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov following his visit to the African nation.

According to Lao News Agency, the memorandum was signed in the presence of both Sergey Tsivilyov and his Nigerien counterpart, Ousmane Abarchi. The agreement is set to foster cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, with a focus on advanced technologies. The collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing nuclear energy capabilities in Niger.

The objective of the agreement extends beyond the extraction of uranium, aiming to establish a comprehensive system for the development of peaceful atomic energy in Niger. This includes the construction of accessible electrical infrastructure across the country, advancements in atomic medicine, and the joint training of specialists in the nuclear field. The partnership
