Special Seminar to Advance Lao Agricultural Business Scheduled for Late October

Vientiane: The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), in collaboration with the Lao Agricultural Business Association, held a press conference on October 22 at the LNCCI office to announce the upcoming special seminar titled ‘Promotion of Lao Agricultural Business.’

According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Bounleuth Luangpaseuth, Vice President of the LNCCI, emphasized the seminar’s alignment with the government’s socio-economic development policy, particularly focusing on promoting domestic agricultural production to substitute imports and boost exports. Supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this one-day seminar is scheduled for October 31, 2025, in Vientiane.

The event is expected to gather around 300 participants, including representatives from the government, international organizations, Provincial Chambers of Commerce and Industry from all 18 provinces, business associations, agricultural sector groups, market networks, banks, financial institutions, cooperatives, and other entities involved in the agricultural value chain.

The seminar will explore opportunities for Lao agricultural businesses to expand, discuss the future of the country’s agricultural sector in the international market, and address key obstacles facing agricultural enterprises. The morning session will consist of open discussions on strengthening the agricultural business sector, while the afternoon will present these discussions to relevant ministries and key partners to develop a strategic coordination mechanism for supporting agricultural business development.

A significant feature of the seminar will be a signing ceremony for a funding agreement on a project focused on manufacturing to reduce imports. This involves the LNCCI, the Lao Agricultural Business Association, the Lao Product Promotion Fund, and the Department of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The seminar aims to achieve several outcomes, including identifying directions and solutions to meet ASEAN and Chinese market demands, establishing coordination mechanisms linking producers, buyers, suppliers, and financial institutions, strengthening and transforming the agricultural business sector through collaboration, and developing a clear, step-by-step five-year action plan (2025-2030) to drive sustainable agricultural business transformation.

Individuals and organizations involved in the agricultural value chain are invited to participate in the seminar. For more information, interested parties can contact the LNCCI (Business Organization Development, Member and Information Department) or the Lao Agricultural Business Association.
