Vientiane: The 2025 That Luang Festival and Annual Trade Fair is scheduled to take place from November 1-5, offering a blend of cultural, religious, and entertainment activities that emphasize the rich traditions and heritage of the Lao people.
According to Lao News Agency, Ms. Viengphone Keokounsy, Head of the Vientiane Capital Department of Culture and Tourism, announced that the five-day festival will commence on November 1 at 4:30 PM. The daily programs are set to incorporate Buddhist rituals and folk traditions, aligning with the festival’s theme, ‘Lao Visit Laos.’ This theme aims to preserve Lao culture while promoting sustainable tourism.
The festival grounds will feature decorations with traditional instruments, lanterns, and lights, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Nightly cultural performances are planned to celebrate the 465th Anniversary of Vientiane Capital. In conjunction with the festival, the Trade Fair at That Luang Square and the Lao-ITECC Exhibition Center will host approximately 2,370 boot
hs. These booths will showcase ODOP products, local cuisine, model products, tourism innovations, and items from friendly countries.
The event will also mark three significant historical milestones: the 70th Anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the 50th Anniversary of National Day on December 2, and the 105th Anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane.
To maintain safety and order during the festival, the organizing committee has prohibited certain activities, including water balloon throwing, duck neck grabbing, and ‘girl falling into water’ games.
