Vientiane: Tourism Malaysia Vientiane, in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia, inaugurated the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign at Wattay International Airport with a special send-off event for AirAsia flight AK553 bound for Kuala Lumpur.
According to Lao News Agency, the event took place on January 1, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., where officials greeted 170 passengers on the departing flight. Representatives marked the occasion by distributing commemorative goody bags and tourism information to all passengers onboard.
The VM2026 campaign seeks to enhance travel connections between Laos and Malaysia, encouraging Laotian and international tourists to discover Malaysia's cultural heritage, natural attractions, and year-round tourism activities.
