Toyota and Subaru to Launch New Electric Vehicle in 2026

Tokyo: Toyota Motor Corp. announced plans to release a new electric vehicle in North America and Japan in 2026. This vehicle will be the second EV developed in collaboration with Subaru Corp., although the sales price remains undisclosed.

According to Lao News Agency, Toyota, recognized as the world’s largest automaker by volume, is aiming to bolster its electric vehicle operations. The company is leveraging Subaru’s development and production expertise to enhance its competitive edge against automakers in the United States and Europe.

Toyota recently projected a 34.9 percent decline in net profit to 3.1 trillion yen ($21.3 billion) for the current business year ending next March. This projection is attributed to increased U.S. tariffs under President Donald Trump and the impact of a stronger yen.
