UN Cuba Announces Photographic Contest ‘Looking at the World with New Eyes’

Havana: The United Nations System in the Caribbean nation, in alliance with the Cuba Photographic Library, is calling for the photographic contest “Looking at the World with New Eyes”, an opportunity that is appreciated today by lovers of such a beautiful manifestation.

According to Lao News Agency, the contest is open to residents in Cuba aged between 15 and 35 years. It aims to capture through photography how participants envision a more just, healthy, and sustainable future. The deadline for registration and submission of images is October 1, with selected works to be featured in a special exhibition in November 2025, the largest photography event in Cuba.

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), contestants can submit up to three photos in JPG format, with high resolution specifications of 20 cm wide and 300 dpi. The contest themes encourage participants to explore concepts such as sustainable development, universal health coverage, and environmental stewardship.

The contest o
rganizers have outlined themes to guide participants, including collaboration for sustainable development, initiatives promoting health, and actions addressing climate change. Fifteen finalists will be selected, with one photo winning the top prize. Special mentions will also be awarded by the jury.

Finalists must authorize the UN and associated entities to use their images for non-profit purposes to promote their activities. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 24, 2025.
