Hanoi: The Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) has committed to enhancing information sharing, coordination, and support for its Lao counterpart at regional and international forums. It has also expressed its readiness to share experience in areas such as legal framework development and oversight of budget use and key bilateral projects.
According to Lao News Agency, Vietnamese NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man made these commitments during a meeting with Party General Secretary and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, who was visiting Vietnam for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day celebrations. Chairman Man highlighted the Lao delegation’s presence as a testament to the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity. He reflected on the shared revolutionary history, noting that Vietnam’s milestones and victories have been closely tied to the unwavering support of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the Lao people.
Chairman Man praised Laos for its achievements under the 11th Party Congress resolution and expressed confidence in the Lao leadership under Sisoulith as they prepare for the 12th National Party Congress in 2026. He emphasized Vietnam’s priority in maintaining its unique solidarity with Laos.
Sisoulith congratulated Vietnam on its achievements and acknowledged Vietnam’s success as an inspiration for Laos in its national development. He recognized the significance of parliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations and expressed confidence in continued collaboration to enhance their cooperation agreements.
The Lao leader proposed continued legislative exchanges and mutual support at regional and international forums. He thanked the Vietnamese NA for its support, which has bolstered the Lao NA’s legislative role representing the people’s interests.
Chairman Man acknowledged the progress in Vietnam-Laos relations, citing frequent high-level exchanges and effective bilateral cooperation mechanisms. He mentioned that the two parliaments are working on a book titled ’50 years of relations between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Laos – comprehensive cooperation for development.’ This publication aims to review their cooperation and strengthen coordination in the future.
He also suggested maintaining regular delegation exchanges, utilizing cooperation mechanisms, overcoming obstacles, and exploring new areas of cooperation to advance practical and effective development.
