Vietnamese Party Chief’s Visit to Laos Strengthens Bilateral Ties: Lao Official

Vientiane: The state visit to Laos by Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam, along with his participation in the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the Lao National Day, holds great significance for Laos and the special relationship between the two countries, stated Bounleua Phandanouvong, head of the External Relations Commission of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee.

According to Lao News Agency, Phandanouvong shared with Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Laos that the visit aims to implement recent cooperation agreements between the two Parties and states, while also holding profound political and historical significance for strengthening the bilateral relations. This is the leader’s first state visit to Laos as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), highlighting the importance the Vietnamese Party and State place on their ties with the neighboring country.

The visit occurs as Laos celebrates significant events, including the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane, adding diplomatic significance to the occasion. Phandanouvong noted that the visit will inject fresh motivation into the Lao Party, State, and people, underscoring the special Laos-Vietnam friendship and solidarity, characterized by their historical cooperation in national liberation and current collaboration in national construction and defense.

The event reaffirmed the commitment of the leaders of both Parties and states to enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. It serves as a pivotal opportunity to increase awareness among citizens, especially young people, about their role in preserving this unique relationship.

Phandanouvong also took the opportunity to express his wishes for the enduring nature of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation for future generations.
