Vientiane: As Lao PDR gears up for its nationwide elections on February 22, voters are emphasizing the importance of future representatives maintaining close connections with their communities and addressing local needs effectively. Candidates for the 10th National Assembly of Laos and the 5th Provincial People's Councils have ramped up their campaign activities across various constituencies, notably in Vientiane Capital.

According to Lao News Agency, many voters express a desire to elect representatives who demonstrate capability, transparency, and dedication to both national and public interests. Citizens have highlighted the importance of elected officials engaging regularly with communities in both urban and rural settings to gain a comprehensive understanding of the living conditions and concerns prevalent among the populace.

In Xaysomboun Province, Ms. Onkham Thannavong from Nam Mo Village voiced her readiness to vote and her expectations that elected representatives remain sincere and committed to public service. She emphasized the need for representatives to actively listen to citizens' views and bring their concerns to the Assembly for appropriate consideration and resolution.

Local authorities have noted that election preparations in Constituency No. 18 are on track, with committees diligently verifying voter lists and candidates actively continuing their outreach activities. Officials have stated that these efforts are crucial to ensuring the election is conducted in an orderly and successful manner across the country.
