Manila: As Filipinos trooped to polling centers under the blazing daytime heat, one message echoed across precincts in Manila — voters are demanding for transparency, integrity, and genuine public service from those who will win this year’s elections. At the Rosauro Almario Elementary School in Tondo, Manila, voters expressed that this election is not just about shaded names on a ballot, but about selecting good leaders who would prioritize clean governance and true service to their constituents.
According to Philippines News Agency, Patricia Policarpio, 28, made her call and hopes clear to those who will be declared winners of this year’s elections. She emphasized the need for transparency about public spending, highlighting that it is the people’s money. Policarpio sees voting as a responsibility not just to the nation but for the future of her child and the next generations. She believes good governance begins with empathy, advocating for leaders who understand everyday hardships like low wages and difficult commutes.
Rose Ann Dongines, 32, urged those elected to demonstrate their worth through service, rather than just qualifications. She called for actions to improve Manila, focusing on cleanliness, security, and wholehearted service.
Renato Abenaldo, 56, shared his feelings for the first time with the PNA, expressing his commitment to voting despite physical challenges. He emphasized that winners should value the trust placed in them by voters who braved the heat to vote. For Abenaldo, governance should bring meaningful improvements to daily life, urging officials to take their jobs seriously.
Alberto Belino, 52, offered a straightforward reminder to the next batch of officials, advocating for systemic reforms and efficient governance as essential to improving the lives of ordinary Filipinos. He hopes for improved government operations to enhance the situation and quality of life for the people.
Rosauro Almario Elementary School serves as the second top voting center nationwide, with 46,179 registered voters.
