Ha Tinh: State President Luong Cuong has declared that the newly inaugurated wharf No.3 at Vung Ang port in Ha Tinh is a significant emblem of the steadfast relationship between Vietnam and Laos. This statement was made during a reception for General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President Thongloun Sisoulith, who visited Vietnam for the wharf’s inauguration and the 50th anniversary celebrations of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
According to Lao News Agency, President Cuong emphasized that the inauguration marks a crucial political and diplomatic milestone, showcasing the commitment of both nations to enhance connectivity and foster development cooperation. He expressed confidence that the new port facility will cater to the rising transport demands, facilitate transit cargo, and bolster trade cooperation with Laos, thereby aiding economic growth and integration for both countries.
President Cuong also highlighted Vietnam’s April 30 victory as a monumental historical event, attributing the triumph to the nation’s patriotism, revolutionary zeal, and quest for independence. He expressed gratitude to Laos for its unwavering support during Vietnam’s struggle for independence and ongoing nation-building efforts.
Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith acknowledged Vietnam’s victory as a notable achievement for revolutionary forces globally and extended congratulations for Vietnam’s historic accomplishments since reunification. He expressed optimism for Vietnam’s future successes under the leadership of its Party and State.
President Sisoulith noted that the operational wharf No.3 is integral to Laos’ strategy to transition from a landlocked to a land-linked nation, highlighting its strategic political, economic, defense, and security significance. He expressed gratitude to Vietnam for its prioritization and support during both the resistance against common adversaries and current national development efforts.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to implementing high-level agreements to enhance the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the evolving global landscape.
