Kuala lumpur: Several world leaders from continents including Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, and Latin America are expected to participate in the 47th ASEAN Summit set to take place in Kuala Lumpur this October, as announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 21.
According to Lao News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar highlighted that leaders from Italy, the European Union, Canada, and the United States have already expressed their commitment to attend the summit. The event is anticipated to be a significant international conference for Malaysia.
The Prime Minister also mentioned earlier this month that several heads of government from outside ASEAN have confirmed their participation in the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, scheduled from October 26-28. Among those confirming their attendance are Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Brazilian President Luiz In¡cio Lula da Silva, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is currently serving as President of the G20 Group.
Malaysia, with its theme of Inclusivity and Sustainability, hosted the 46th ASEAN Summit and related meetings from May 22-27, marking its role as the 2025 ASEAN Chair.
