Hue: A memorial and burial ceremony was held at Hue city Martyrs’ Cemetery for the remains of 10 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos during the war. The event, held on May 23, honored those who fought for national independence and international solidarity.
According to Lao News Agency, the remains were recovered during the 2024-2025 dry season by Team 192 under the municipal Military Command. This mission was supported by authorities from Laos’s Salavan and Sekong provinces. Over the past three decades, the city of Hue has successfully repatriated 963 sets of remains through 28 missions, showcasing a longstanding commitment to honoring fallen heroes.
Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, Nguyen Chi Tai, spoke at the ceremony, highlighting the significance of the effort as a meaningful act. He stressed that it reflects Vietnam’s tradition of honoring its fallen heroes and serves to strengthen the special bonds between Vietnam and Laos.
