Amman: Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has sent a message of sympathy to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, following the plane crash on June 12, 2025.
According to Lao News Agency, the message, dated June 13, 2025, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property damage caused by the airplane crash in Ahmedabad city, Gujarat state, India.
The message conveyed on behalf of the Government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, as well as on behalf of Prime Minister Siphandone personally, expressed profound sympathy to Prime Minister Modi and the people of India. It highlighted the thoughts and condolences directed towards the victims and their bereaved families.
Prime Minister Siphandone’s message also conveyed confidence in the dedicated efforts of the Government of India, expressing hope that the people of India would be able to overcome the tragedy and restore normalcy to their lives swiftly.

ian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, with a message of condolences. The message from Minister Phomvihane underscored the tragic nature of the accident involving Air India Flight AI171, which resulted in the deaths of both passengers and crew members.
Foreign Minister Phomvihane extended deepest sympathy and condolences on behalf of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Government and people of India, with particular emphasis on the families of the victims. He expressed his confidence that the Government and people of India, especially the bereaved families, would find the strength to overcome their sorrow and recover from the difficult situation soon.
