Vientiane: On July 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, held a video conference with Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and discussing future collaborations between the two nations.
According to Lao News Agency, the Vietnamese side expressed appreciation for the success of the recent official visit by the Lao Foreign Minister to Cambodia. They also conveyed gratitude for the Lao side’s hospitality during a working breakfast with the foreign ministers of Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia at the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Malaysia. The two foreign ministers acknowledged the strengthened cooperative relations between their countries and foreign ministries, highlighting the tangible results achieved so far.
The ministers agreed to continue close collaboration to support their senior leaders in implementing agreements reached by their respective Parties and governments. Their goal is to maximize benefits for the peoples of both nations. Additionally, both sides discussed preparations for high-level participation in significant upcoming events, namely the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, 2025, and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao PDR on December 2, 2025.
Plans for the 12th Lao-Vietnam Foreign Ministerial Political Consultation, set to be hosted by Vietnam at the end of 2025, were also reviewed. The ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, reinforcing their commitment to continued cooperation and dialogue.
