Riyadh: Republic of Korean artificial intelligence (AI) chip startup Rebellions Inc. announced plans to establish a unit in Saudi Arabia as part of its strategy to expand into the Middle East market. This new office in Riyadh will function as an operations hub, dedicated to ensuring a stable supply of chips specifically designed for Saudi Aramco, the state-controlled oil giant.
According to Lao News Agency, Rebellions received a significant investment of 20 billion won (US$14.4 million) from Aramco in July last year, which has facilitated this strategic move. The company is currently engaged in discussions with Saudi Arabia’s telecom operators and local information technology companies, aiming to diversify its business portfolio through potential partnerships.
Rebellions is also exploring opportunities within Saudi Arabia’s ambitious AI initiatives, which focus on developing a comprehensive AI framework throughout the resource-abundant nation. CEO Park Sung-hyun emphasized that the establishment of a Saudi unit marks the beginning of Rebellions’ efforts to meet the growing demand for sovereign AI in the region.
