Vientiane: News sources from Xaisomboun Province reported that on the morning of August 27, 2025, flash flooding struck Nam Phang Village and Sibunheung Village in Thathom District following several days of continuous heavy rainfall. The severe weather conditions led to the Nam Phang and Nam San rivers rising and overflowing their banks, which resulted in many houses being inundated and sections of local roads being submerged.

According to Lao News Agency, authorities have stated that details of the damage are still being assessed and will be reported later. In response to the natural disaster, officials have issued a warning to residents of all ethnic groups, local administrative authorities, and organizations in low-lying areas and along riverbanks to remain vigilant. Communities are urged to stay prepared for potential landslides, flash floods, river flooding, and urban flooding due to the persistent heavy rainfall.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has advised the public to closely follow weather forecasts and updates. The continuous heavy rains pose a significant threat to the affected areas, and officials are taking measures to ensure public safety and minimize further damage.
