Concepcion Eyes 1st PGT Title at ICTSI Negros Occidental Classic

Bacolod: Fidel Concepcion is eyeing a breakthrough win on the Philippine Golf Tour as the ICTSI Negros Occidental Classic kicks off Tuesday at Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club. The PHP2-million event at the storied Marapara layout features the Tour’s top players, including back-to-back leg winner Keanu Jahns.

According to Philippines News Agency, after finishing seventh at Forest Hills, the 29-year-old Concepcion climbed to fourth at Caliraya Springs and was runner-up in last week’s Bacolod Golf Challenge. Angelo Que, winner of the first two legs at Pradera Verde in Pampanga and Eagle Ridge in Cavite, is also seeking another title. Standing in his way are seasoned pros and hungry young guns, including Aidric Chan, Tony Lascu±a, Tae Won Ha, Reymon Jaraula, Russell Bautista, Carl Corpus, Collin Wheeler, Michael Bibat, and Sean Ramos.

Justin Quiban, back from his international campaigns, is another player to watch. He has won the Luisita (2017), Bacolod (2018), and South Pacific (2023) legs on the local circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. Other contenders are Clyde Mondilla, Jisung Cheon, Josh Jorge, James Lam, John Michael Uy, Forest Hills leg winner Guido van der Valk, and former Marapara champions Ira Alido and Rupert Zaragosa.
