Da nang: The 12th Theory Conference between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) was held in Da Nang, with a focus on restructuring the political system to address new development requirements.
According to Lao News Agency, this event was part of the cooperation agreement between the two Parties on theoretical and practical research. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Nguyen Xuan Thang, a Politburo member and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, while the Lao delegation was headed by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune.
Leaders from both Parties highlighted the challenges posed by rapid global and regional changes, emphasizing the need for breakthrough measures in organizational restructuring to ensure effective leadership and governance. These efforts aim to implement each Party’s congress resolution successfully and to strengthen the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Nguyen Xuan Thang noted that the conference provided a platform for exchanging theoretical and practical insights on reorganizing the political system. It allowed scientists from both countries to share information, research approaches, and lessons on strengthening Party and State institutions. He expressed hope for continued exchanges to promote reform and sustainable development in both countries.
Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune lauded the conference theme’s relevance and congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in streamlining its central and local apparatuses, which have enhanced efficiency and fostered innovation. He mentioned that the LPRP is also pursuing organizational reforms according to the Resolution of its 11th National Congress to meet national development needs.
Delegates presented papers on theoretical and practical issues in political system organization, discussing challenges related to institutional frameworks, organizational awareness, and human resources capacity. The conference outcomes are expected to refine each Party’s policies and orientations for the new period.
Both sides agreed to organize the 13th Theory Conference in Laos, with details to be determined later.
